Thie collection of 'Treaties and Engagements' with the indigenous political power of the region was compiled from the factory records of Tellichery and Anjengo and Diaries and Minutes of the Malabar Commissioners. The editorial notes given by William Logan with explanation and additional information to several such withagreements and personalities are immensely helpful in understanding the historical background and sociop-political situations of that particular period. The extesive glossary added to this volume had explained many archaic words prevalent in malabar at that time.
