Vol. I of the "Geographical and Statistical Memoir of the Survey of the Travancore and Cochin States" was executed under the superintendence of Lieutenants Ward and Conner from July 1816 to the end of the year 1820. It has enriched the topographical and geographical knowledge of Travancore and Cochin regions. It served the purpose of a Gazetteer, a Census document and a socio-economic survey of the society.
