Read what students say on KCHR internship

"Your encouragement made me feel for the first time that I might say things of some consequence, not earth shattering things but at least ideas based in a methodological system and ideas that might contribute to the rediscovery of a people's past. And that keeps me glued to my work; it drives my brain at incredible speeds and keeps it at those speeds. My internship with the KCHR was entirely unplanned and yet it has changed me, drastically. The study of people and how and why they are who they are and the systems that surround them is now an obsession with me that stretches beyond the library. I find myself constantly analyzing people, and seeing the variety of perspectives, historical and otherwise in which they can be viewed.

Most importantly my time at the KCHR has convinced me that I would like to study people, their systems and the foundations on which those systems are based, for the rest of my life."

Gideon Mathson, St. Stephen's College, New Delhi

"I had the fortune to work at KCHR this past winter. I was doing research on the Mappilas and everyone at the Center was so helpful and understanding the entire time I was there. I just wanted to thank all of you for helping me have such an excellent research experience. I will always remember your hospitality and kindness. This past May, I was able to complete my honors history thesis and graduate from the University of Texas in Austin with honors. I truly believe that the documents I was able to obtain at KCHR really helped me craft a competitive research thesis.

Thanks again for dealing with me while I was at the Center and for patiently answering every question and concern. I will always be in your debt."
